University of Waterloo vs Berkeley (wait-list) for mechanical engineering

That makes a lot of sense and definitely could apply in this situation as the school had a sizable low-income population.

Late to this thread but congrats to your son in have two outstanding choices, he honestly could no go wrong with either. But, I am glad to hear that he chose Waterloo. Over the course of a pretty extensive career I have hired engineers into my teams at some of the top companies in the SV including during stints at two of the FAANGs. UCB grads are great but I have a soft spot for kids from Waterloo.

Waterloo grads consistently exceed expectations and with their coop experience they are ready to go in a manner that does stand out. They were consistently among my favorite interviews and hires. Your son has a bright future ahead of him, so parents, give yourselves a nice pat on the back as well.

Thank you @Aimlesscat1, my son has 3 years of part time work experience as a summer camp robotics instructor. Do you know the strategies can he follow to get a good coop job? Is this strictly through waterloo coop department campus recruitment or he should search on his own as well? We have time as his first coop will be from May 2024.
