My daughter has a 4.25 gpa (3.8 unweighted), 28 and 29 ACT (30 superscored for Madison’s ‘holistic’ approach) and stellar EC including in and out of school activities. She is from an OOS very competitive HS. Chances for direct admit in to the business school?
She has 5 AP classes, 1 dual enrollment, and countless honors
I’d say she’s a good match and has a good chance of admission
The typical unweighted GPA for students admitted to the University is 3.8-4.0, the typical ACT score is between 28-32. So your daughter is within the range for admission to the university. However, admission is more competitive for the WSB, so the students being directly admitted as freshman will be on the higher end of the stats of students admitted to the university as a whole. Of course she won’t know if she doesn’t apply.
Not enuff data yet. Next year is 1st with more than a handful of direct admits. Go for it. They do say personal info is very important–proof of business interest, etc. Also recs.
Unless UW has changed its approach recently, it does not superscore. Can she retake to try to squeeze another point or two? An OOS student with a 29 and a 3.8 is borderline acceptance to the university, likely postponed, with possible admit in the spring. The OOS students admitted in the early round are usually 32+ ACT students.
4 is incorrect. The 2017 DA class was 275, the 2018 DA class has over 550
Sadly, she won’t take the AcT again. She’s just done. But she does have a demonstrated interest in business. She has placed in DECA state competitions each year, one being1st in the state and has gone on to compete in internationals. She has held a DECa officer position each year and is now president. She also has worked with the non profit, The Smile Train, since elementary school raising money and awareness. Last year she became a student ambassador and participated in a conference at their headquarters in NYC where she helped to develop a marketing campaign for them for this fall/winter. Hoping these and her other EC will help!
@Gradmom1 With BSch accepting double the freshman DA if she does not get in know that competition for the very very few slots available when she applies in her 2nd semester will be fierce. FYI - a good 2nd bus related major is Econ in L&S school.
Yes, they quickly increased the quota for first year students after the great response. And competition. Unusual for faculty to act so fast. but long overdue.
