How screwed am I if I can't find a ride up to my university for orientation? :(

It's less than two weeks away. I don't know anyone going up there for that orientation session. I could call the university, but they're going to give the standard "orientation is required, so you better find a way up here if you wanna attend here in the fall!"

It depends how far away you live from the campus. Is there a public bus that could pick you up relatively close to your house and bring you there? Train? What about a taxi? You could even rent a car for a day. There are options and orientation is definitely important.

I live three hours away from the campus. There is no train or bus system that can take me there and bring me back in a reasonable time frame. Reasonable meaning I won’t have to stay at a hotel more than two days in a row. Staying in a hotel for several days probably won’t help with my already limited finances for college either.

How do you plan to get back and forth once the school year begins–i.e., move-in and move-out days, Thanksgiving and winter and spring breaks, etc? This is just another one of the many occasions you’ll need to make that trip, so it’s time to figure out how to do it.

The school may be able to offer contact info for some attendees who live near you and could offer a ride. Or try the Facebook for the incoming class to find someone who lives not too far away. As for overnight accommodations, you mean the school isn’t letting orientation attendees stay in a dorm? Ask if this can be done for those coming from a distance.
