University Resident Assistant

Can anyone give me tips on how to apply for a university resident assistant?

I am a first year student.

Okay, so far I've heard some tips like get involved on campus, maintain a high GPA, etc.

What are some questions that they might ask during an interview?

So far I have people telling me that they ask:

Why do you want to be an RA?

Why do you think that you would make a good RA?

Also, I am a low income student with a 0 EFC on my FAFSA with family income below $30000.

I had sophomore standing on my first day of university, so they reduced my CAL Grant by one year.

So I am missing $8667 for my senior year in my financial aid package.

Theoretically, they should replace my lost CAL Grant with a Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) or increase my University Grant.

However, since the U.S. economy is not looking good, so I am not sure if I will get a Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) or an increment my University Grant in my fourth year or not.

Would mentioning this situation increase my chances of getting hired or will it decrease my chances of getting the position since they might think that I'm trying to act desperate or maybe even be greedy for money?

Can anyone else offer me any other tips?

Thanks for your time.

Happy Holidays.

It's different for every school. I know at my school, you need to be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 or 2.8 gpa (I can't remember which or if any). You must also take a class for 1 credit, get at least a B, and get a recommendation from the prof teaching the course. There's also an interview, but I think they just ask you stuff like why you want to become an RA, what qualities make you a good RA and stuff like that.
