University Scholars Program at Penn

Has anyone here done this program? I got a notice inviting me to apply and I’d like to heard from people who did it.

Is this different from the Ben Franklin Scholars? I just got a packet about that in the mail today..

did this notice come separately from your admission decision, or was it there in you're acceptance package?

Congrats! :)

Thanks :) It came today, seperate from my acceptance package. FWIW, I'm a Huntsman kid.

I got the notice as well. Not sure if this is the same as the ben franklin scholars - it looks like more of an undergrad research platform.

Yeah they're different.. sorry for any confusion I caused.

I got the ben franklin scholar thing today. Looks interesting.

Hey guys,

I'm a current freshman at Penn, and I'm also a UScholar. The University Scholar program should be pretty much explained in the mail they sent you, and I strongly urge you to apply. Its an awesome program for anyone that would like to do undergraduate research at Penn. And by joining, you're not really under any obligation to do anything freshman year, so don't worry! Usually by the summer after your sophomore year, they start seriously telling you that you need to start research, but you can certainly start way before that. But its really interesting to be able to attend the FREE research lunches, and it facilitates a lot of interaction with university faculty. And you get to sign up for Benjamin Franklin seminars (which other people can too btw, but they need to get special permission). What else....oh, both of the academic advisors for the UScholars are really awesome and have great connections...that ultimately get transferred to you whenever you need them. :) Hope that helped a bit.
