University Scholars Program

Hi everyone!! I can't contain my excitement anymoreXD I just got a call from WashU's Univ. Scholars Program and I'm a finalist for the program in medicine!! Haha I think I might scared the lady by yelling into the phone with too much excitement. Has anyone else been contacted yet? What is the interview process like? Can any current/past scholars share:)? The reason I'm so happy is because I was pretty set on going to my state college. It also has an undergrad+MD program, and even though I don't particularly like the state school, my family cannot afford an-out-of state university with our high EFC. But I think my parents will support me if I'm guaranteed for one the nation's best medical schools. Wahh I'm so happy! I really need to prepare for the interview now:)

Congratulations! I'm glad that your work paid off for you :)

That's awesome!!! When did you get the call? and what did they say?

I got the call at around 6pm, and it was a super nice lady who told me that I'm a finalist and also the interview date (March 29th - April 1st). I have to call her back in order to confirm I'm going to the interview. She also said that a package will arrive in the mail soon that contains more info about the interview and selection process :)

Okay I know I must be hindering your celebration, but one more question. Can you please post your stats for us. Thanks and congrats again!

I don't particularly like posting stats....mostly because it takes so long to type themXD If you want, I can email you my resume. It contains all the ECs I've done and academic awards etc. I can also add SAT/ACT scores on there, so it won't be any different than posting my full profile here ;)

has anyone else received notification for finalist status?

Sakura,

Congradulations! It is great to have your smarts and hard work pay off.

...I wonder why no one else on the board has received notice yet. Does anyone know whether the individual Scholars programs (Business, Medicine, etc) notify separately? Or are all of the finalists for all of the Univ. Scholar Programs notified at the same time?

hey, i received notice yesterday too. does anyone know how competitive it gets after this?

I always wondered, are USP acceptees automatically given merit scholarships? I'm sure the amazing stats and activities would cover both requirements... Congrats to you both!

i don't think USP scholars are guaranteed scholarships. from the program brochure, it says "The University Scholars Program is an academic opportunity, not a scholarship program." it would be wonderful tho if i can get merit aid. my family will need it to attend WashU.

Is the University Scholars the one where you're applying for grad school admission at the same time? I also do not think that it involves a scholarship necessarily, but probably if you're of the caliber to get in to that, you'll prolly get scholarship too. : )

^^^^Ya that's what I was saying. The high calibers would coincide to get probably merit scholarship if you are a USP finalist.
