Let’s say it’s December. You (in this case my DS) just got accepted EA for Honors College and did not get a merit scholarship. Does the fact that you got no merit scholarship mean that there’s a chance that you’re in the running for a University Scholars award? Or does it mean that there’s no chance of that?
In other words, do University Scholars first get the small merit scholarship and then later get that increased to the big award? Or do they get no merit scholarship at first and then receive the finalist letter in January, followed by the big award?
I was going purely off what I could glean from reading old threads, so no claims of accuracy! Well, no invite here, but wasn’t really expecting one and we are happy enough with the merit offer, so will be sending in deposit now.
I am out of state and was given an excellence award when accepted, $14000 a year totaling $56k. I was invited to the university scholars selection weekend, but I think the original scholarships vary.
That $14,000/yr is to offset the cost of attending as an out of state student so that you are paying what an instate student would pay instead. University Scholars awards are for four years of tuition.
