i just received a letter saying that I was accepted into the University Scholars program... anyone else get one? if u did, are u gonna attend april 8?

also, which other schools have u gotten into and where does bing fall on that list? i originally used it as a safety, but this is a new twist. i didn't expect to get university scholars, so i would just like some comparison from others.

I got one too. Not going to attend since I live pretty far away from Binghamton. Binghamton was my super-safety. The offer doesn't look all that impressive to be honest. It didn't offer as much money as I had hoped it would.

very true. i actually figured out that going to a school much higher up on my list (where i've been accepted with some scholarship money) would cost me roughly the same as bing.

and i live like 5 hours away so.. just deciding if i should go to the open house for the hell of it. i don't wanna look back and feel like i didn't consider every option available to me i guess

I got the same University Scholars letter from Bing. I kind of laughed when they offered me $500 for freshman year. Binghamton was also my definite safety, and it was an easy application to dash out, but even the honors program and the five hundred bucks won't do it for me. Especially since I already sealed an acceptance with Swarthmore, and have a "likely" letter from Wellesley. There's no incentive for me to go to Bing, unless Swarthmore and Wellesley suddenly get swallowed up by the ground.

Not to say that Bing is a bad school at all... just that a) the location isn't that great, b) it's an eyesore, and c) like jenz said, the offer isn't too attractive.

I also got it, but I'm not going. 500 dollars? Are they kidding me? Most "University Scholars" programs give full scholarship or at least half. It was also my definite safety, I got into Amherst and a likely from Wellesley. I also got into SUNY Geneseo and an invitation to apply to their honors program, which seems more interesting.

haha yea i got in for scholars too... its really lame with 500, and they tried to make it up by giving us "priority" pickings for boarding and stuff... bing was def my safety

According to a Princeton Review ranking, Binghamton students are some of the most unsatisfied with financial aid in the nation... not surprisingly, judging from the aid package they sent me. I know, I know, public schools have smaller endowments, but still.
