<p>I got this in the amount of $2500/yr on top of my trustee scholarship.. what is this? Says it is a general education scholarship, but why did they give it to me?</p>
<p>^ If you see this in your fin aid award, it may be an extra "grant" you get for financial need and as recognition for your qualifications. Congratulations, that's great!</p>

I'm sure you received this scholarship because of your great credentials ... the letter my S received states that it is "In recognition of your academic achievement, talent, and involvement ...". I'm sure they want to give you an extra incentive to matriculate at USC.</p>
<p>My S, who is a freshman this year received the Trustee along with the University Scholarship, too. It was quite a a nice surprise and certainly helps go towards the cost of room and board!</p>

<p>I heard about people with presidential's and national merit sometimes getting more money. I certainly didnt expect it. </p>
<p>They do a really good job with it though, especially since it is awarded at such a crucial time.</p>
<p>Sweet, I just got $3500/yr of merit aid that I wasn't expecting:</p>

<p>I had never heard of the University Scholarship or of getting an extra $1000 for NMF... sweet.</p>
<p>The letter my S received was dated Apr 26th ... so it looks like you may not receive your letter until the end of the month. It is not a need based scholarship because it states you do not need to refile financial aid documents every year to continue to receive it. Of course, if you want other need based aid, you still need to file those documents!</p>
<p>Congratulations BandTenHut! I don't think they "advertise" the University Scholarship.</p>

<p>Ok thanks feladis, that's great! I wasn't sure exactly how much full tuition was according to Trustee award, or whether certain expenses were included. Without having the OASIS notification yet, I can now gauge what to expect for remaining costs.</p>
<p>The Trustee Scholarship is for full tuition. You are honored. Only 100 of those are given!</p>
<p>Incidentally, there are scholarships given out by many of the SC Alumni Associations. I know the Atlanta Alumni give out three partial scholarships for students from GA who apply to the alumni group after they submit their acceptance to the university. These are awarded at the SC Sendoff Party in late summer just before the admitted students leave for California.</p>
