University Student - Transfer to Top 15 - Please Advise. Need help

Hi there, I'm currently a student at a university ranked between 70 and 80 on USNews. I am a sophomore in my 3rd semester and considering transferring. The main reasons I cite are:

*lack of connection and rapport with the general student body
-I should clarify here. i've made many friends here and there are a lot of bright young individuals at this university. that said, i'm not sure if it's just reflective of our generation but there is a lot of disheartening entitlement and group/self-centrism among the students here. also, there appears to be a huge lack of intellectual curiosity at this university. in general, the students here treat the purpose of school work and classes as strictly vocational. in addition, i've literally met only a tiny handful of students interested in the same things as me. rather, most are instead concerned with drinking, clubbing, and perusing social media sites.

*i want the opportunities a top 15 university would provide

As a junior I will be:
Stats: college gpa: 3.81
SAT: 2120
Involved well on campus and in the community. 2 major leadership positions.

I would try to enter my spring of my junior year. so i would apply fall of my junior year.

Would my attempts be in vain? Is there really no reason to do this? Would I even have a chance at such universities?

do schools look poorly on applying so late? would it even be worth it applying with only 3 semesters left?

thank you for taking the time to read this.

I know my first choice school has a policy that if you’ve completed more than five semesters of school at a 4-year institution, you’re ineligible to transfer. So you’re cutting it pretty close, and different schools may have different policies. That said, your stats look good, and your reasons for leaving are legitimate (and by that I just mean, schools don’t want people transferring just for the prestige of a higher-ranked institution). Good luck!
