University to Airport Question

Hi all! I'll be attending UCLA this Fall, but I've never been in Los Angeles before. Is it fairly safe around the campus? Also, how far is the airport away from the university? I can't imagine it being walking distance... So, is there a way I can get there from teh campus easily? (I've never taken a taxi before, and I'm worried I'd have trouble getting home.)

There's the FlyAway shuttle..the stop is in Westwood, it's about a ten minute walk from the start of campus. It's $4 one way to the airport.

Then there's the Super Shuttle which you can schedule. I haven't taken it, but I'm pretty sure they can pick you up where you ask to be picked up, and it's more expensive.

The airport is around 20-25 minutes away from the LAX Airport. You can take the Supershuttle, Fly Away Express, or the taxi to get the school.

The taxi ride should be well over $50, probably $75. Supershuttle is slightly under $20 ($18, and $2 cheaper with coupon). Both take you door to door.

Thanks! Would the shuttle also take me back to the campus from the airport?

Sorry, I meant: If I used the FlyAway shuttle, would I be able to get from the airport to the university and vice versa?

yes. flyaway runs every half an hour between LAX and westwood.

Or you can be really really cheap.

Take the Culver City Bus #6 or the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus #3. Sure the terminal is at Ackerman, BUT ITS ONLY 25 CENTS. Just don't bring that much stuff. You can buy your blankets and stuff ehre.
