University to Community College to a better University path? Has anyone done it?

I’m a freshman at a public University trying to transfer to Boston University. If I apply directly there and get accepted I would have to pay roughly about 30,000/yr, which is not very manageable for me. However, BU is offering transfer students from Community Colleges full-tuition scholarships. Plus, my GPA is a little bit below the average to transfer, so if I spend my sophomore year in a CC I can definitely pull it up above the average.

Would that improve my chance of getting in + a pretty good chance of getting a scholarship, or would being in a CC lower my chance of getting in?

What would the admission office think about me?

If my application is great, would they think my plan for the scholarship is too obvious, taking advantage over those who actually have to be in a CC?

If my application is just at the average level, would they think that I wasn’t able to survive a University that I had to move to a CC to bring my application to the average level, and thus, not accepting me?

Has anyone done it before? Please share!
