University town center? Good option for transfer housing?

Looking online it's seems like good option. Wondering what others know about it or other options

Anyone… Help me out

I don’t know anything about the Town Center. The STARS program for transfer and reentry students at UC Santa Cruz might be able to help you sort through the options. I did speak with a student about Porter and the Village. She said Porter is social but noisy. The Village is quiet and it’s a ten minute walk to the nearest dining commons if you wanted to eat there. You would have to take the shuttle to classes from the Village. She thought the Village was a good place to live if a student wanted quiet.

University town center is off campus, so you’d either need a car or you’d have to rely on metro buses to get on and off campus. And since it’s downtown, you’d probably have to pay for parking. I don’t really see why someone would want to live there when there are plenty of much cheaper housing options off campus. Downtown isn’t really that great a place to live, honestly. But if you did want to live near downtown, like I said, there are cheaper options than university housing. Even some of the most expensive single rooms in an apartment or house are cheaper than a double or triple at the UTC.

In terms of convenience, living on campus is the way to go. Plus, it’s way easier to make friends and get that sense of community. But if you want more freedom from university rules, then I’d suggest looking for non-university off campus housing.

Just my opinion. I’ve never lived there, nor do I know anyone who has, so I can’t really give much better advice than that =/

Thanks. Cool to here what others know. I’m visiting campus soon and going to try to check out all my options
