University with its well-known major

Where can you find a list of universities with the major (undergraduates) they're known for? In other words, how do you know the best major offered by that university?

for example: MIT is most well-known for its engineering program. Johns Hopkins=Medical… Where can I get the full list? For undergraduates!

There is no such list. If you ask about a particular field of study people might be able to tell you schools that are reputed to be good in that field. Many universities are good across numerous fields. You can find many threads on this forum that discuss what universities are good for a particular major. USNWR and other rankings of graduate departments give some idea of what schools are good in a particular field but those might not tell you what the undergrad experience in a particular department is like. Then there’s the unreliable Gourman Report and the Ruggs Guide. You’ll find posts about both of these on this forum. College guidebooks sometimes tell what departments a school is noted for. So do a search on this forum.

I don’t think there would be a list for this.
