Unknown But Great College's!

I thought I make a thread abour college's which are great, but are unknown. I would like to add one to start, :)

Flagler College: It is in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida. It has the most gorgeous campus I have ever seen. It is a private school for just 20k a year with room and board. It has amazing academics, but not Harvard like or anything. It is a liberal arts college and right next to the beach. It use to be a hotel/all girls school and is like 75% girls. This is a pro for all us guys, lol. I would say a 3.0-3.3 would get you in the school. This is truly a hidden jewel and people should know more about this school. Also, lots of kids work in the town for the tourist attractions. I would def. apply to Flagler in the future.

Now, add some schools and give us some info. I'll make a list later to see all the unknown schools out there. Enjoy! :)

Take a look at the Brag About your Lesser Known School thread in the Parent’s forum.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/370873-brag-about-your-lesser-known-school.html?highlight=agnes+scott

Also, the school is consistently ranked in the top twenty most beautiful college campuses by Princeton Review, etc.

carleton college

Caitlin, thanks I forgot about that. It seems like the other thread is more for parents, but anyone can answer this. You also don’t have to be an Alumni. I have never graduated from Flagler, just personal opinion.

Clemson University: Underrated school (because of its in the middle of nowhere location in South Carolina)that is slowly making a rise in the US News rankings thanks to its presidents campaign to get the school in the top 20 public schools in the country. Very strong engineering, science, education and nursing programs. Beautiful campus, amazing school spirit surrounding its athletic teams, friendly student body.

ORAL ROBERTS

Yes.

WUSTL.

I know it’s not really “unknown,” but it flies completely under the radar for most people. I’ve been met with more blank stares than I could possibly count after replying when someone asks where I’m going to college. And then, when I finish the “in St. Louis” I’m invariably met with the “yuck, St. Louis, don’t get shot” face, even though WashU exists in this gorgeous little bubble in the nicest part of St. Louis.

Any More??

Grinnell College in Grinnell, IA is one of the lesser known top LACs. When I tell people I’m going there there like “Do you mean Cornell?” and I’m like “No, but I know what school I’m going to.” Even google says “Do you mean Cornell?” on a lot of searches >______<

When many people think of the LACs they don’t think of Grinnell.
Grinnell is a small LACs, with about 1600 students. It is very strong academically. It has no required classes except for a freshman tutorial, and if they don’t have a class you want to take you can create it! Grinnell is a tight knit quirky community and in the gorgeous town of Grinnell <-----which was rated the 3rd coolest small town by The Early Show.

:)

Flagler was the first one that came to mind for me. It’s stunningly beautiful, and of good quality. It’s not top ranked or anything, but it’s solid. I consider it a hidden gem.

Gordon College, in Mass. It’s quite good, a Christian college in a region with few of those, and it has an excellent theater program.

I agree with you about Flagler. It’s really a hidden jem.

I wanted to bump it up, :)
