Have you ever heard of someone getting one?

Or even a possible letter?

Seems like a waste of postage

Haha.

No.

There is a mention of this on Parent's forum:

"Wellesley will always get props from me for their "Early Evaluation" option, whereby they send out Likely/Possible/Unlikely letters in February, weeks and weeks before the other non-rolling schools send out the formal acceptances/or not."

I've never heard of someone actually getting an unlikely letter. Likely letters? yes. But I mean these are places where most canidates won't get in anyways, but I wonder how common these unlikely letters really are. I wonder if anyone gets accepted who gets one. I know someone who was rejected after a likely letter however

the only thing that i can think of that would deserve an unlikely letter

like the perfect candidate (rare even at top schools)
who is easily admissible (hernandez calls these "academic 9's"
and then they uncover something (academic dishonesty/second degree murder, etc.)

although I can only imagine they would send out an unlikely letter if they had already sent this person a likely letter, and then uncovered it.

*Dear X,

This is to inform you that the previous letter has been revoked to make way for this one. we regret to inform you that you have now been statistically compromised with regard to your chances of admissions at our school. we have uncovered a major infraction of college ethics/national security which you have failed to inform us about. please ignore the previous letter and keep this for your records.

Best regards,
Y

PS Start looking around for another school.*

:D

HAHAHA good one banedon

Haha. National security. Nice sarcasm.
