Unlikely student ED chances?

Hello,
Just wondering what my chances are for ED applicant
Came from small city in Nebraska. Asian. College Prep School.

Academic interest-centered around helping kids
Specific Project- “life path” project.

Other stuff
parents both received masters from a low quality school
income= 130k
student speaker at communication night and mother-son breakfast (random…but yeah)

Any advice?
Please give honest opinions on my chances at Brown and if ED is worth the application!
thanks!

Composite ACT: 31

yayyy. sounds so good. applying ED for '15 as well. You sound so solid, im scared!

Quartile rank with a 31 ACT? No real chances of acceptance.

how many students you have in your class? if it is very small, you should be ok. are you taking the most rigorous courses though? did you have only one AP your junior year? Anyway, I like your ECs and your interests, and really hope you have a good chance. I have similar scores and GPA as yours, and even lower class rank, but I belive you need to follow your heart
Best luck!

Not trying to be a buzzkill, but you don’t stand much of a chance.
ED is somewhat easier than RD, but it won’t help that much to get you in.

i have around 300 kids in my grade. and yes only 1 ap. with 2 honors (biology and precalc)
and ok thanks for the advice everyone! i will try my best and no regrets!

This looks tough.

your extracurricular are really great, if you’re applying early decision you should know the following:

Brown takes pride in the fact that they consider EVERY application, and read every application twice, before decision.

They try to get an understanding for who you are, they want to hear your voice. This is why Brown requires SO many essays on there application, they want to give you maximum opportunity to be heard, and to say what you need to say.

Your ACT is 31?
Honestly, what the hell is everyone else on here talking about… a 31 IS PERFECT for Brown… This isn’t harvard.

Look at these statistics from the 2009 admitted Brown students:

SAT:

Critical Reading Middle 50%: 650 - 760
Math Middle 50%: 670 - 770
Writing Middle 50%: 670 - 770

ACT:

ACT Middle 50%: 29 - 34
Math Middle 50%: 28 - 34
English Middle 50%: 29 - 35
Writing Middle 50%: 28 - 32

(these stats are via the Princeton review website)

Have confidence,
pray,
you have just as good of a chance as the other kids,

but the most important thing is to let brown know YOU ARE UNIQUE, and you deserve Brown, and Brown deserves you.

Good luck.

Yea the kids with sub 32 are URM, etc…

If she has good essays and emphasizes why Brown is the only school for her,

then the 31 will be fine… She could get in, Brown acceptances are really weird.

If you look at brown.edu
more kids are accepted with 700-740 SAT 1 scores, then kids with 750’s-800’s,

and around the same number of kids apply from each.

If Brown suspects that they’re not really your first choice on ED, and you’re just applying, you won’t get in.

And if you apply regular, and your STATS are way over what Brown usually gets, you’ll probably be weight listed, because Brown doesn’t want to be the second choice/the back up.

A lot of colleges actually do that now.

^lol? idk if you didn’t bother reading op’s extracurriculars or if you’re just being mean, but op is male.

note: “Big Brothers of my High School” and “mother-son breakfast”
