<p>The latter is ridiculously expensive, and i’m pretty sure needs to be done from the start. An unlocked iPhone is ~$600 plus you still have to pay fees for using it. Not worth the cash, especially if she’s on a prepaid plan.</p>
<p>Its actually not too bad. My friend got an 8gb Iphone 4 for 300 bucks unlocked and now uses some ghetto carrier, pretty cheap, no contract.</p>
