<p>Does it really matter if a person has a class rank of 55/558 compared to 56/558? I know one is outside of top 10 percent but is top 10 percent a solid boundary, or simply a round number that has some lee way?</p>
<p>It depends on the school. For a really elite college, like an ivy or another selective school, you should really be in the top 10%, unless you high school is incredibly well respected. Otherwise, for a slightly less competitve school you should be able to get away with it if the restbof your app is solid, especially once they see how close you are.</p>
