…and D2 is doing her WAM (Wilderness & Austere Medicine) rotation right now.

Historically UNM has always been strong in primary care, rural medicine and family medicine.

(I assume you know that the USNews med school rankings for both research and primary care are junk. The methodology is terrible.)
