DD just got home and said that the school has not received anything. She and her cohorts are sitting on pins and needles.

@albert69, I wish. But DH has a meeting tonight & DS hasn’t gotten home yet, so I’m here with my little ones. We have a KINDERGARTNER in addition to a high school senior + a couple of others thrown in for good measure.
@aggiemom3 we are North of Dallas and found out D was a finalist yesterday by way of a posting on the school district facebook page. Nothing received at our house as yet, and no other notice from the school.

Today, we got a USPS pre-sorted 1st class mail at home to confirm my NMF status.
would we have received a letter saying we did not move on to finalist status???
still no mail or no word from my sons school???
Good news from Alabama. Principal and GC each sent email stationg that S is indeed a Finalist!! Thank you, Jesus!!
Anyone in NY hear anything at all, either from high school or via mail?
@pasoccermom, if your DC did not move on to finalist standing, then you should have received a letter at your home address indicating this. It’s also possible that your school would have received a copy of the letter. Those “rejection letters” were mailed mid-January, based on what we’ve “guesstimated” here on CC.
NMFs should show up on a list sent to schools as of 2/2, but the mailings must have been sent Bulk (or carrier pigeon) so your school may not have the list from NMSC yet. You could have your DC go see the GC tomorrow to ask, or you could call or email your GC or Principal to ask. Even if the letter has arrived, it may just be buried on somebody’s desk, so a call or email could prompt the office to look for it.

Still nothing for me in AL, and now I won’t hear until at least next Wednesday because of a college visit tomorrow and a long weekend for Mardi Gras. Congratulations @forian!
@elk1122 Thanks!!! Hopefully you will get the good news early before you leave for Mardi. Gras! The principal said he got the letter today and since I had inquired about it he let me know right away.
Friends, my son walked in the door about 15 minutes ago - having been gone since this morning. Family’s all here, our little ones are still awake as usual, and my son just announced that he’s National Merit Finalist!
He DID it! By the Grace of God & despite that semester C in an unweighted class, he made it! I haven’t screamed so loud since he made our state cut-off. Principal called all the NMFs into the office right before school ended, but my son wanted to tell us in person, as a family, so he purposefully did not call.
I’m gonna go cry some more, but I will be back tomorrow to celebrate & wait at the bar with those who don’t have word yet. Thank you, thank you to every single one of you who helped keep me sane, and helped keep my spirits up, during this crazy process over Fourteen-Freakin’-Months!! I appreciate you all so much, and will never forget your kindness.
And to the folks in the NMSC breakroom watching this thread roll by on the smartboard - especially Smartie-Pants Stan & Jimmie the Intern - I LOVE YOU ALL!!

Haven’t heard anything in Washtenaw County Michigan, but other schools have reported.
Still nothing in the mailbox or from the school in Marietta, GA.
CONGRATS to all NMF and thanks @GoAskDad’s son for telling mom in person and making her sweat for an extra few hours. 
Hopefully we will all know by tomorrow the good news. Waiting is no fun.
Congrats to those who found out they are finalists!! Hopefully the rest of us still waiting will find out in another day or two.
@forian That makes me feel good to know that some schools are only getting letters now. Perhaps mine is the same. And yep @hpflstdnt, a very few counties in the deepest of the deep south do! I can’t really complain much about having to wait for my news since I am waiting because of holidays.
