Unofficial Transcript Request is Good News?

Hi. I am just wondering unofficial transcript request is good news? Many people got an email from UCs, but I got nothing until now.

I have a lot of gap years, international classes, as well as working experiences. I am so worried that it is a bad sign.

Not sure. I’m in the same boat as you – gaps in my schooling, major changes, etc and they requested my unofficials sometime in Feb.

I have none of those and I got one.

They ask for all sorts of reasons. I wouldn’t t think of it as a negative. They just want more clarification for something. My daughter got a request last year from Merced, she had no gaps, one CCC and a strong GPA. She got in, so who knows? Maybe they are trying to verify GPA if you have a high one for scholarship purposes.

I got one from UCLA and have no gap years/international classes. If a school is asking for unofficial transcripts, I would consider it more of a good thing than bad thing.

I was asked by UCLA for one, too. Who knows if its good or bad. Has anyone received one from another school besides Merced and got in?

Lots of people get in. You’re not stuck at Merced, haha. BTW, my daughter did not choose Merced.

Who knows what thy ask. I don’t think it’s a negative, or necessarily a positive. In some ways it seems random. BTW, she got into UCLA, so it seems arbitrary.
