@hopefulapp43 I had a similar situation where my recommendations didn’t submit and I found out last week. They said to fax them anyway so I did that. I’m so pissed that Common App doesn’t notify us when something like this happens.
If you were admitted to both UIUC College of Business - Computer Information Technology AND UNC School of Information and Library Science - Information Science…which would you choose If aid is not a problem? Thanks!
Hey guys! As I’m anxiously waiting for next Friday (like a lot of us are) I just wanted to see if you guys would give me some feedback on what my chances of getting in are?
Freshmen at UNCA, applying as a sophomore
Political science and economics major
College GPA: 3.79
HS GPA: 4.7 weighted (IB and AP classes)
My SAT scores are pretty standard, with the exception of my math score that is not great.
Extracurriculars:
HIGH SCHOOL:
IEA Equestrian Team – captain of my team, in charge of social media, competed in the “open” division
Volunteer at Helping Horse (therapeutic riding program, was named volunteer of the month a few times)
Was part of French club and French Honor Society
Section Leader of my high school’s top level choir
Competed on the local NCHJA hunt seat circuit, was 6th in the state for my division in 2015
Pianist and vocalist (lessons and performances)
COLLEGE:
UNCA Equestrian Team & IHSA (in charge of social media, competed in the “intermediate” division)
Asheville Singers (admitted into UNCA’s top level choir as a freshmen)
I submitted one letter of recommendation from a professor at UNC, and I think my essays were pretty good. My essay mainly focused on how being an equestrian has helped me develop confidence, perseverance, and leadership in the sport as well as in other areas of my life.
My anxiety levels are so high waiting for a decision! I really hope they release the decisions earlier than the 15th (though I know it’s not likely). I’ve been accepted to other schools, but Carolina is my first choice! Here are my stats…
Junior Applicant
Current College: Community college in North Carolina
GPA: 3.9
HS GPA: I don’t even remember, but I know they were low.
SAT: This is the part that is making me nervous… At first I was told that I would have to apply as a sophomore, so I sent my scores in, but later was told (after I already sent my application) that I would qualify as a junior transfer. My scores were AWFUL. Like really bad. But, I took my SAT way back in 2012. So hopefully they don’t hold much weight and they can appreciate my successful progress lol!
Major: Sociology
EC’s: Intern at a non-profit organization, Girl’s on The Run assistant coach, volunteer at women’s health center, NC Global Distinction member, PTK member, member of a feminist union.
2 letters of recommendation. One from one of my sociology professors and another from the Executive Director of the non-profit I work for.
I think my essays were pretty solid! My main essay focused on my advocacy for women’s rights. Then I had my essay on why I want to attend Carolina. I also wrote about my experience as a Girl’s On The Run coach for the “Write about one of your EC’s” essay.
I am a nervous wreck you guys! I know you all understand haha! Good luck everyone!
Are we assuming that the decisions’ll be sent out before Friday, most likely @5pm Eastern Time? Thanks.
The wait is literally taking years off my life…lol
@nick20watson I feel the same way. I check Connect Carolina even when I know there is no decision there yet…just hoping. I think everyone here looks like a promising candidate.
^ same!! Honestly I think they’ll be posted thursday. Schools rarely post decisions on Fridays, so I’ve noticed.
Lol I too check Connect Carolina everyday. Its crazy. I never been this impatient in my life.
Last year we were emailed a day or two before decisions came out
Yeah it was the day before
last year they posted like April 10-11th. I am so desperate waiting for the decision T_T
So, we should expect an email ahead of time stating when our decision will be out?
yes @ftrsimmons they should send an email the day before our decisions our posted telling us how to check for it online and there should be a blog update
I feel you, I’ve been checking everyday since I submitted it.
I only applied in February and it feels like an eternity I have been waiting.
I’m just going to keep checking Connect Carolina everyday. Because I’ve received decisions from two other schools and one of them sent an email three days after I had already seen the decision on the student portal and the other never sent an email and I got the decision on the their student portal about 4 days ago. So I don’t know if that’s a pattern with most colleges, but so far they post the decision on the portal before they send an email telling you it’s been posted.
I just checked this morning, April 11th and nothing yet. Staying hopeful.
Just checked this morning, nothin. I heard that most of the decisions will be made sometime today, tomorrow and wednesday.
@Hollow93 Where did you hear this from?
