Never thought I’d get this anxious counting down the days
Good luck to everyone!!! May the force be with you
MY SPIDEY SENSES ARE TINGLING ~~ I foresee Thursday being decision day.
From the looks of the blog posts, they usually post at around 3pm… so i guess we’ll see if decisions will come out tomorrow around that time.
Checked UNC Admissions’ Twitter (@UNCAdmissions). They replied to a couple of people asking about decision date saying “there’s no specific date set for transfer decision release. It will be mid-April”
Just saw that tweet! Oh my gosh, I hope that doesn’t mean it might be a longer wait than Friday. I don’t think my heart can take this stress! Lol.
Hey guys, I am stressing out over the admissions decision and just found this forum.
I am a sophomore at UNC-Greensboro, studying Computer Science with a 3.81 college GPA. I am applying into Mathematics at UNC, and my other numbers include an 1780 SAT, 29 ACT, 2.6 HS unweight, 3.3 HS weighted, and I have very strong extracurriculars and two strong letters of recommendation.
What do you guys think my chances are? I was wait-listed and eventually denied last year as a freshman applicant.
@spencer.schneier If you are applying as a rising junior, I think you have a good shot, since they won’t be as focused on your HS GPA and test scores. That was probably what hurt you last year.
Just curious, but when you were waitlisted last year, as a transfer, how long was it until you heard that you were officially denied?
Wow, finding a thread for this year is a weight off my mind for some reason.
Current California CC freshman
GPA is 3.58
Journalism Major
1940 SAT, 590 Math, 690 Reading, 660 Writing
54 college credits
2.78 HS GPA
Strong extracurricular activities including president of several clubs
3 letters of rec, two extremely strong
I think my chances aren’t incredibly bad, but I went on a tour of the campus while I was in the state last week and it sounds incredibly competitive. Apparently a record number of students applied.
@ftrsimmons I was officially denied on June 10. By then I had pretty much moved on though.
@nunciative I’m ccc too!
Is anyone familiar with unc’s financial aid process? Like if you are accepted, will they give you estimates on what your package could be? Because other colleges have deadlines of May 1st to enroll and it is risky to wait and see if unc will give packages out to transfers before then.
@Gowolfpacks18 It looks like in years past folks got at least an estimate, if not at the time of notification of admittance, within the next day or three. Some of the ones that posted stated they were required to turn in additional documentation at the time, but at least they had an estimate to go by.
@ShovelBum18 what a relief…I am under a time crunch (just like many others on this thread I’m sure)…unfortunately it is looking more and more like we will have to hold off until Friday…i speculated this on another thread but if they release decisions on Friday afternoon then they won’t have to take calls from upset students, parents, etc. because they will be gone till Monday. Who truly knows tho.
Yea, I’m not sure i can take waiting much longer than that. And it makes me wonder about those who posted saying they called the admissions office and were told something different.
@jman1295 right. We’d have to know by the end of the week tho because after this week it isn’t considered “mid april” anymore…more like end of April. Lol. Just trying to find the silver lining in the waiting
@Gowolfpacks18 Im with you on holding them to that, but I’m not sure they would agree on the finality of mid-april lol
If you divide April into thirds the middle is 10-20
I would use the rule applied to word count on papers. The acceptable range is plus or minus 10% unless otherwise specified. Which would put us between the 12th and the 18th. I doubt they would release anything over a weekend, my strategy would be to release decisions on a Friday. So as to avoid an influx of calls and emails, as previously mentioned.
Have any of you guys checked to see whether or not all of your classes will transfer? I found a page, but I’m not sure if it’s all the way correct. http://admissions.unc.edu/credit/credit/transfer-equivalencies/
