Did people receive their financial aid award with the email?
I didn’t apply for financial aid, so I cannot tell you that, unfortunately.
@zct0018 - I’m sorry; I know how you feel. Being waitlisted is not fun. Hang in there.
@allthecolors Thanks for the words of encouragement. Honestly UVA has always been my number one choice. Now it just makes me more anxious for UVA decision to come out!
What were your stats, @allthecolors ?
Stats:
(This is a little rough so I apologize.)
Freshman, in-state, 4 yr. Waitlisted last year. Honestly, I think my essays, recs, and potentially the program I was in helped me out in that regard.
HS: 4.3 Weighted, no idea unweighted.
ACT 26. (Math and science killed me!)
Can’t remember if I submitted SAT. Did not take any subject tests.
APs:
Sophomore: European History (3)
Junior: US History (3),
Senior: US Government (n/a), Statistics (n/a), Environmental Science (n/a), English Literature (4)
Definitely was on the lower side of things, academically.
College:
3.88/4.0 1st semester
Midterm grades were probably around a 3.73 when I attempted to calculate my GPA.
1st semester courses:
- Human Adaptations (Anthropology)
- Religions of the East
- Shaping Language: Creative Writing
- Self, Group, and Leadership (will lose credit)
- Reconstruction to the Modern Era
2nd semester courses:
- Elementary Statistics
- Leadership Theories and Perspectives (will lose credit)
- 2nd Year Writing Seminar (overrided into this but found out my AP credit would have taken care of this... still love the class so I'm not mad)
- General Biology II ( I originally was in Topics in Ecology but was worried about transfer credit/lacking a strong science so I got an override for this class. Easily my hardest class. I thought about withdrawing and even made a note about it in my Common App, but I pulled through in time for the Midterm Report and am doing better.)
- Biology Lab
- Power and Politics in America
Hope that helps.
Hello guys. I received an email from WM and I’m in! I am international and I apply from Asia (I’ve never been to the states before). Being admitted by a college in the US is a big step for me! Good luck to everyone else!
My stats may not be of much reference for local students but I just post them here:
HS GPA: 3.90
College GPA:4.0 Ranking first for three consecutive semesters.
TOEFL ibt: 112
Major experience:
Research Assistant (engaged in three journal papers, one monograph and a project granted by the nation)
Set up a seminar (I applied for funds from my university and organized it on the topic of ancient Chinese history)
Several academic workshops and panels
And other activities.
hey!! I got admitted too and I thought I’d share stats for future reference. I’m an in state freshman and an international
high school
4.0 GPA weighted
ACT 28
SAT 1890 but I didn’t submit that
I took 6 IB classes junior year and senior year and got 5/7 on everything except art (6/7) and history (7/7)
I did quite a bit of volunteer work/community service type things in high school and was in a couple honor societies
college (I’m a freshman, international relations major)
3.6 GPA, 4.0 at midterm
I’m in a couple clubs but I’m not that active in them and honestly I wasn’t expecting to get in so it must have been my essay (and midterm grades) that did it!! I’m very excited and glad I got in, congrats to everyone else that got in and good luck to those on the waitlist <3
I turned in my midterm grades today. It appears they released most, if not ALL decisions last Saturday (4/23/16). I did not receive mine, though I assume this is due to the lack of midterm grades up until just now.
They say on their admissions blog that if no decision was received, it does not imply anything about what decision I may receive … though, how could they possibly admit someone after they’ve already admitted all those other people last Saturday? Isn’t the only other options waitlist or denial? :-/
I was admitted
Congrats, Bruton! Are you going?
I’ve decided I’m going. I was a little hesitant at first since I really didn’t want to leave my organization and friends, but after talking with them and a few other people, I knew that this is the best option for me and it won’t hurt to try it.
@allthecolors Yes I am! I’m thrilled to only be 2 miles away from the house I’ve lived in for over a decade! Hopefully I’ll see you there!
This is absolutely the best option for you, at least to try. It is the single most selective, prestigious institution of higher education in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The community is supposed to be awesome!
