<p>Okay, so, this year I'm taking a gap year. I'm going to be gone November, Jan/Feb, and April/May. That leaves September, October, December, and March.
During those four months, I'm going to be working as a teacher's assistant at my neighborhood's elementary school in the fourth grade English Language Learner's class. I've taken Spanish for years, and I love working with children.
I'm going to be working a 40-hour week, get an official ID badge and all that, but . . . it's unpaid. The school had to get rid of all their paid assistants for fourth grade because the class sizes went down, so even if they wanted to pay me they wouldn't be allowed to.
I definitely consider this job more of an unpaid internship than volunteer work. Could I list it under work experience as "Teacher's Assistant for Fourth Grade English-Language Learners (Unpaid)" or do I have to put it under volunteer activities because I'm not getting money?
(Another issue -- I have exactly 7 ECs, and I don't want to attach an extra page to the common app just to fit this one.)

<p>It doesn't matter where you put it on the app. What matters is that you make sure that you include info about your duties and that it's a 40-hour week, four-month assignment.</p>
