Unfortunately our schedules and our son's are not compatible for college visits and we are getting down to the wire of making a decision. It seems like the scheduled tours are either all full or held on an impossible day. What happens to accepted students who just show up and want to look around? Suggestions on how to handle this "just showing up" tour situation?

I am fairly certain that you can get a tour from a Pitt Pathfinder on any day at all.

They used to meet you in the Alumni Hall lobby. You might have a small group, or just you and the tour guide.

My daughter was trying to decide where to attend and did not want to go to an accepted students day as it seemed all too similar to the open house she attended in the summer. We contacted the Admissions office and set up a one on one interview and then went over to the study aboard office and also set up an appointment with a professor in a department she wanted to study. Pitt was so accomodating - I felt like we got a “small liberal arts” personal approach and a big school. After the visit my daughter was sold that Pitt was for her and she’s VERY happy with her decision and just finishing up her freshman year. So see what your son wants to see and what questions he has and then call admissions and set up an appointment. They accomodated us on a few days notice. Good luck.

Correct. Just show up–Pathfinders usually give tours in the morning and early afternoon.
