unsure freshman

I'm in my first quarter of freshman year and I'm thinking about next quarter. Should I continue, after taking 1st year gen chem, and take Organic chemistry.. possibly ochem lab as well? Or take a break from chemistry (chem kinda scares me... but I think I can deal), and explore economics or computer science. (I can't do both chem and something else due to overloading in units with GE type classes).

I'm unsure whether or not I want to keep loading up with premed classes and taking them all sequencially... because I would like to see if I enjoy another subject such as economics or computer science... because if I do find something else I'm passionate about, then I don't want to continue pursuing premed.

I guess the problem is that if I keep this mindset... and eventually do want to go back on the premed track... that I will be fall behind and not be able to finish my premed requirements in 4 years.

Any advice?

That's actually what my school suggests you do if you're unsure...take a semester with NO sciences and if you're happier than maybe medicine isn't for you. You can definitely catch up...summer classes are always an option and if you're no opposed to more labs a semester you can definitely do it if you choose a science major.

Maybe try volunteering at a hospital to get a feel outside of coursework as well...because that's a huge part of it.
