Unsure of what to do regarding my electives

Hi all,
I am facing a problem regarding my electives, and I would appreciate it if someone could offer advice on this matter. I am a sophomore right now and last year, my elective was Speech and Debate. This year, I do not have an elective because I am taking World History (if I took it at my district's summer school, then I would have space for Speech and Debate). However, I am not sure if I want to return to Speech or apply for a waiver to "unofficially" be in the class and compete at tournaments. The problem is, I do not really like Speech because I am a quiet person. I am wondering if I should officially quit Speech (meaning that I do not apply for a waiver and/or return to it junior year) and join Newspaper in 11th grade. I know it is quite late, but I think I would like it because it still involves writing, but not as much talking to a large audience kind of thing. Is it wise to drop an elective at such a late time? Should I drop my elective entirely? My last resort is to re-join Speech in junior year (I am against that though).
Thank you.

~Notes~
1. My high school only requires two years of PE. After I finish my PE credits this year, I will have a free period next year, which can be filled by an elective or used as a free period. (see #4)
2. I am also in Science Olympiad, Robotics, Orchestra, a chamber group, and I am planning to create a music club on campus. One of the reasons why I felt that I needed to leave Speech was because the clubs/teams took up most of my time. During the Speech & Debate season, I did not participate in many tournaments because most of the time, I was at Science Olympiad and Robotics meetings. My chamber group and orchestra also took up a lot of time to practice pieces. I also expect that the music club will take up a lot of time, as the purpose of the club is to expose children to music (my friends and I are planning to give free lessons), but there is a possibility that the club may or may not be formed.
3. World History was offered as a summer class for students who wanted to have an open space for a free period/elective. I did not take it because I was at summer camp.
4. For reference, here is my freshman schedule, sophomore schedule, and potential junior/senior schedule.
Freshman: 1-Math, 2-Foreign Language, 3-Science, 4-SPEECH & DEBATE (elective), 5-PE, 6-English, 0-Orchestra
Sophomore: 1-Math, 2-Foreign Language, 3-Science, 4-HISTORY (took place of SPEECH), 5-PE, 6-English, 0-Orchestra
Junior/Senior (almost the same)*: 1-Math, 2-Foreign Language, 3-Science, 4-HISTORY (it is APUSH junior year), 5-FREE PERIOD/ELECTIVE, 6-English, 0-Orchestra

I don't know if the side notes I typed out will be helpful in any way. I am just wondering whether it is good for me to drop/join something so late or just take advantage of my future free period.

Bump! I really need some advice please!

Isn’t an elective just a class that isn’t required? I’d advise you to focus mostly on academic/core classes.

Just don’t take speech and find something you like and stick with it.

Don’t do Speech if you don’t like it! Find your niche and dedicate yourself to that.
