I would really like to go to UNT for composition and music theory. I believe I have all of the academics and extracurriculars, but I'm very concerned about the music audition. I'm going to be performing Tableaux de Provence on Baritone Saxophone, and I'm having a difficult time preparing it. I have until late January to really have it finished. I'm worried that this audition will ruin my chances of being accepted. Do you guys have any advice?

Also, I would technically be OOS as I live in Colorado, but my residency would be in Texas because that’s where my dad enlisted in the army.

Do you have a private teacher? I’d choose something different that is a challenge but easier to polish. My son has been working on his concerto for a year now. It’s memorized and just needs fine tuning here and there. It was a monster of a piece. And have you had a sample lesson with faculty yet? That was very helpful for us

I don’t have a private teacher at the moment, but I would like to start private lessons again soon. And what piece would you recommend be easier to polish?
And how would you set up a sample lesson?

Get a private teacher asap. Negotiate with your parents on price and what you can do to get lessons again. A teacher may be all you need to get you up to speed or will tell you what to play instead.
We just emailed teachers asking for a sample lesson. It’s that simple. You tell them about yourself and ask for a sample lesson.
If you want to go to an auditioned music school, a teacher is a need not a want.

Thank you very much on the advice, it is very much appreciated. I will work on getting these things together as fast as possible.

Good! Keep us posted. I found it helpful to even get sample lessons from teachers at closer music schools you might not go to school to get some valuable feedback and even recommendations for teachers.
