Hi so I have been freaking out A LOT! I am currently a junior. Here’s some backstory: major personal/family issues up until kinda this year & I struggled a lot with this transition/how it impacted me. I have only recently been getting my life together.
I go to a private high school in NJ and its ranked in the top 20 most challenging private hs in the US by the washington post. my school does not release rank nor gpa. only AP class you can take starts soph year (APUSH) and honors is only math, spanish, and chem. Junior year is when the IB classes begin.
Stats:
-Freshman: 2.6 (uw) (all reg classes)
-Soph: 2.74 (uw) (all reg classes)
-Current Junior GPA: 3.72 (weighted)
I am taking six classes this year (this is an overload as 5 is the usual)
Reg english: A-
Anatomy: A
IB Modern World Hist: B+ (ended with an 89.4 last term :/)
AP Art History: A-
Spanish 4: B- (hoping to get up to a B for final)
Precalc: C (this is killing me, i suck at math, hoping to get up to a B- for year)
-Senior year I am taking these courses: IB english HL, IB history HL, IB enviro, IB math studies, and honors econ… my predicted grades will make me have a 4.5 gpa for senior year.
despite my HUGE upward trend, I will end with a W 3.39 gpa. (northeastern does weigh differently, and my gpa will be higher)
ACT: currently 30, hoping to get a 32
-EC: tennis all 4 years. varsity lax all 4, and have started since soph (hopefully captain senior year) and have been recognized with honors, president of marine bio club since soph, exec board for outdoors club, responsible for raising hundreds of dollars through pitching a smoothie sale idea (for green committee)
-Job Experience: worked at a hardware store since freshman summer. responsible for being trained by Ace and working the marketing/advertising part of the business
-Community service: at least 20+ hours fresh+soph year. junior year 50+ with church work, leading antioch group, and teaching 1st graders amongst other experiences such as volunteering day camps etc
-Spent 2 weeks in the Himalayas in India hiking and working on water conservation projects with local schools
-Hopefully doing an internship at the MET this summer (very prestigious)
-father was extremely successful and became president of sales for Pfizer
so basically I wanted input about my fresh+soph and kinda my junior year grades. I just don’t know how much this will dictate my chances of getting into any school. I am hoping to study business in college. can someone just give me any insight? like idc if its the cold hard truth that my chances are really low. thanks in advance for taking the time.
