Colgate's essay a year or two ago when my daughter was applying was what one thing would you bring with you if admitted. It was different and opened up numerous doors for creativity, thinking out of the box or bringing yourself into the box.

I was wondering what some other interesting ones were you encountered.

And which one(s) did you hate or keep on encountering so often that after the fourth or fifth time, you genuinely detested it.

While I was really, really annoyed by the Tufts prompts at first, I actually think that, in answering them, I'm presenting more of myself than I have in any of my other applications, and that's making me go back and change the apps for the rest of my schools around quite a bit. The "unexplored intellectual passion" prompt resulted in the easiest college essay I've ever written, and a good one as well.

Wow, awesome prompt. Maybe even a good idea for a thread here.
