Unusual SAT Situation

Hello....

I'm trying to figure out if I should retake the SAT or not. I took the SAT in March and scored an 800 on the reading section, but only a 570 on the math part.

My academics are otherwise very good. I have a 4.0 GPA, I was ranked as the #1 student in my class last year, and I've been taking AP courses since my freshman year. I had originally wanted to apply to some competitive colleges, but I don't know if that's possible with my current scores.

I've had several people tell me that I should retake the SAT, but others have told me that I should not. What are your thoughts?

Hmm...what year are you in currently and what math courses have you taken? Your math ability and, as a consequence, your SAT math score should rise with years of mathematical experience...

you should definitely retake because that math score isn't good enough. Math is easily learnable, and it doesn't get too complicated. Just buy the blue book and a math review book and just study. You should do very well on the reading again, perhaps not an 800, but at least the scores wil be more balanced. Also, many colleges superscore, so the 800 for reading will stick.
