Unusually LOW MATH SCORES

anyone got a math score that is way lower than expected?

I hear that for the oct test, there are many people who got unusually low math scores...

Is there any chance college board is wrong???

i guess its just a brutal curve.

Hrm, I agree some scores were a bit on the low side but it's likely there wasn't anything wrong =/

A lot of questions were horribly tricky...I would have missed an extra 2 in math but I double checked my work and changed 2 answers to the correct ones. The people who scored low just fell for more traps; We all know the feeling looking at a practice test and seeing the dumb math questions missed =/

What about getting a hand score verification?

mine was unusually low, i was very disappointed

i was expecting at least a 700 and got a 660.
the writing part was even worse.
on my practice tests i usually got around 750, on the actual one 600 :(

my CR score was MUCH lower than a expected -- exactly 70 points.

math met my expectations.

Writing was much higher than i expected/

same here i was expecting 700+ and i got a 650. This is true for many people, i saw many people mentioning it in another thread. possibly a scoring error? (i am too optimistic lol) but probably we fell for stupid traps cause i thought the math was easy and i was double checking online and i thought i only got max wrong of 5. guess i was wrong

I too was expecting 700+ and I got a 680.

i thought i got a 740+ and actually got a 670

sux

Yeah some of my friends had mixed opinions lol.

Three of them thought they ACED the math section. They got 670, 680, 710

One of them thought they got low 700 range. Got a 780.

I think something seriously went wrong b/c those who got 670, 680, 710 are very smart and they actually took SAT last year. Each of them got at least 750. I don't think its possible for couple people to do so much better before and do worse after. Especially after taking SAT prep classes. I actually think there was a scoring error, at least on the math part.

yeah i got a 730 but i was expecting a 680 ish

I don't think there was any scoring error. I took the SAT last October for the first time and thought I also aced the math section but I got only a 650. This October I checked my work very carefully and read every question two times and got an 800. I really think that those who get less than they expect, don't put enough effort to check their work. Many students finish the math question very quickly and afterwards "check" their work- a process in which they only approve what they did but will not find mistakes. However, real "checking" means to take more time on each question and make sure you are solving it correctly. In my opinion if someone finishes the math section early it means he didn't do it carefully enough. That's when over-estimating of one's score happens.

I have a friend who took the SATs last spring and got 530 on the math. In October, she retook them without cracking a book, and got 700.

So..who knows.

I got 760 in March... 670 in October :-</p>

oooh! Harvard44, that is horrible. I would rethink applying to Harvard!

i'm in the the same boat.

i thought i did well, at least a lot better than the last time i took it.
in Oct 2006, i got a 710 in math, but this year i got 650. i was really disappointed. :(

uhm 700 march
800- October
so not for Me!

740 - June
650 - October

I honestly thought I would've improved...Based on practice tests before hand I thought I would've got atleast 750+.

640 here, Idk, I never expected to ace the math, but I was a tad surprised. It makes me feel a little bit better/hope that I can do better if you guys usually got 760's. I'll tell you when I get my Q&A
