Unweighted GPA and Weighted (Not a Chance thread)

I have a question about the unweighted GPA that colleges usually look at. Our school doesn't give unweighted GPA instead using this system:
CP Honors AP
98 - 100 4.0 4.5 5.0
93 - 97 3.7 4.2 4.7
90-92 3.5 4.0 4.5
87-89 3.3 3.8 4.3
83-86 3.0 3.5 4.0
80-82 2.7 3.2 3.7

I won't bore you by going lower, but i find this system to be really flawed because getting 97 (which is usually an A+) only counts as an A and your GPA takes a hit.

Just looking for your commentary and how your unweighted GPA's are calculated.

honors, ap boost don't exist when calculating unweighted, so if you AP physics and got a 98, you would get a 4.0, not 5.0.

Thanks but what about the numbers? like is a 4.0 a 98 - 100 or 97 - 100, etc?

4.0 is for straight a's, most schools calculate GPA on the letter grade and then weight according to the difficulty of the class for weighted GPA, at least in my case...
