Unweighted GPA as Weighted?

Ok, first I will say I moved schools in the summer after junior year. My old school calcuated GPA on a 4.0 scale, with honors classes being weighed as 4.5, and AP and college classes as 5.0. For example, an A in AP World History would count as a 5.0 out of 4.0.

My new school calculates GPA differently. It doesn't weigh GPA, rather it weighs Cumulative %. For every honors class, 3 points are added to the final grade and for every AP and college class 6 points are added. For example, if I make a 96 in honors math, the grade will show as 99.

I was supposed to be valedictorian at my old school, but am only ranked fifth here. This is because my counselor basically did not weigh any of my classes. I had a 96.873% average there with a ~4.3 GPA, while here I still have a 96.873% average and a 4.0 GPA.

I just want to make sure what I am thinking is correct. My counselor did not award me any weight for my courses taken, did he? I am sure I would be valedictorian if my Cumulative % was weighted, but I don't know how to bring this up with my counselor. Could there be just a misunderstanding on my part?

Bump

you just go into his office and say you think your GPA is being calculated wrong and see if there is anything he could do to fix the situation
