Unweighted GPA dilemma

My school principally goes by a weighted GPA system (out of 5). To calculate the unweighted for colleges etc. it uses a mathematical proportion setting it over 4. However, I am in the top 5% of my class, and using this system makes me have quite a low uw GPA. I have gotten 21 As and 4 Bs (not counting B+ or A- etc) and the system says that my uw is 3.56. When I recalculated through an online uw calculator it said it was a 3.8. It was my knowledge that a B+ was a 3.67. That being said, I do not feel as if it is reasonable for my uw to drop so much when I have gotten mostly As, and under my school's system my average uw GPA would be around a B when I have only gotten 4. Does this seem wrong to you too? Am I calculating unweighted GPA right? For example, how would one take into account an A+ (when I researched it the source said that was a 4.33). I do not want to apply to selective schools with such a low uw GPA so any help in assessing the accuracy of the school generated GPA is appreciated.

if your school told you that’s what your unweighted GPA is, I would trust their calculations

For this reason, colleges don’t look at the unweighted GPA reported on your transcript. They look at your actual grades, and calculate an unweighted GPA from them.
