Unweighted GPA Question

I know this may sound stupid…but Im not sure…

Does an AP “A” still only count as a 4.0 on the unweighted scale, or is it a 5.0???

Go ahead and yell at me for being ignorant, I deserve it…But please just answer my question when you’re done.

That would depend on your school.

But yes, on an unweighted scale ANY A is a 4.0 (hence the unweighted part). Weighting involves raising the value of higher level courses.

The grades are broken down (I know a lot of schools do it this way) technically on a 12 (13 counting A+) point scale with an A being a 12 an A- being 11 and so on. An average is computed on this scale and then divided by 3 which creates a cleaner version of the 4.0 scale (technically 4.33333333333)
