I go to a public high school with an IB program. I am currently in the Middle Years Program and if we get an A and some one not in IB gets an A we get the same number of points. It is so unfair. Our classes are harder and it should show.

I go to a public school too where AP classes aren't weighted, and so the overwhelming majority of the class takes non-honors/AP classes (only 5% of the class takes AP classes, and only 1% of the class does good in them) but thanks to unweighted grades, I'm personally bordering on the edge of the top 10% of the class, even though many of the morons are retarded who are ranked above me simply because they have refused to go accelerated or take the hardest possible courseload.

The schools have their own way of weighing grades.

For the poster whose rank is barely at the top 10%, be comforted that you have a better chance than those who are at the top 3% and did NOT take accelerated classes.

Schools still know if you have taken an AP or IB class, regardless of how it is factored into your GPA. Most places recalculate your GPA to their evaluation system anyway, so there is really nothing to complain about, nor anything that you can do, unless you decide to transfer to another district (like mine, where the weighting scales are extremely generous).

it's really ok, because colleges will see what level courses you've taken. they care lots less about GPA than about the courses you've taken and what grades you get in 'em!
