unweighted VS. weighted GPA

which one is valued more?
which one is more important?

I would say unweighted. Because if you take all AP classes and get B's(which is not that hard) and get a 4.0 its not as impressive as taking all AP classes and getting A's or not even taking AP classes but rather just getting a 4.0 in regular classes.

Unweighted is much, much, much more important. It's not an opinion, it's a fact.

That in no way made sense. Taking AP classes and getting B's is much better then taking regular classes and getting A's because of the rigor of your coursework.

how about both? haha.
Take AP/IB classes and get good grades.
I think GPA (unweighted) is looked at first and then the HPA (what we called the weighted GPA) is looked at.

To know the rigor of your classes, schools look at your transcript. HS can use whatever weighted GPA system they want to. My school rates my AP and advanced classes equally out of 6.0. There are some schools that have their weighted scale out of 12.0. Unweighted GPA is more important.

^exactly

schools will look at your uw gpa, then look at your schedule. weighted GPAs are so messed up because of the above system (6.0 or 12.0s? really?)...

Weighted. If you go with unweighted, then a 4.0 for insanely easy classes vs. 4.0 for hard classes are valued the same and that distorts a lot of the picture.

UW along with your rigor of schedule. Because looking at UW just by itself can result in what mcb52 said. Weighted can be blown way out of proportion and colleges don't look at it anyway.
