I'm applying to the University of Chicago, and I've got this essay that's creative as all hell, and manages to convey stuff like individuality and determination, but might be too abstract to give a good sense of who I am as a person. Is there a such thing as having a UofC essay being too abstract? I showed to a couple people as just a short story, and the consensus seems to be that it's pretty damn well-written. If I use the Common App essay and short answer sections to more closely show who I am, will it be okay?
