UoFM Chance Me!

I am a current high school junior in a northern michigan school with good academic standing in the state and country. I would really like to go to the University of Michigan (mom went there) and I really don't have any clue as to what my chance are for admission.

In-state
Male
Caucasian (as if saying that I'm from northern michigan isn't an indication)

ACT: 30. Not sure if this is competitive
SAT: Scores haven't come back in yet.
Class rank: Top 2% in a 450 student class. So one of the top 9 students in my grade.
GPA: 3.93 UW
APs: AP World - 4 (sophomore year, only ap given)
AP Lang and AP Gov this year. Thought I did pretty well, better than World.
Next year: AP Lit, AB Calc, and AP Bio.
Teacher Recs: Should be good
Essays: Should be very good

EC's
Student Senate 3 years, now on the executive board.
NHS
Varsity Alpine Skiing 3 years
JV Golf 2 years
Hockey freshman year
Tutoring 3rd graders at a low income area elementary school once a week
Signed up for Big Brothers Big Sisters for this summer
Work at a local restaurant
Work as a Learn to Ski coach for toddlers during winter months
Job shadowing at the local hospital
YAC Program (Youth organization that gives funds to local non-profits that benefit kids each year. I helped choose what organizations to give funds to.)

Other than UofM, I'm not sure where else to apply. Cornell..? Looking to the east, not the west. Any opinions/help is greatly appreciated! :)

You have a very solid chance. I think you’ll get in assuming you apply early action.

Try early action as suggested above. You are slightly below the average in ACT while your GPA is above average. Considering in-state with legacy, you should be a match. The mid 50% ACT for admission was 29-33 with an average of 31 last year. If you are applying to CoE or Ross, then it may be a high match to low reach. Cornell would be even slightly more competitive than U of M.
