Hey this is my first time on this site and after reading some of the stickies.. I am very intimidated haha. I am an in-state applicant to UMich, here's my stats.

GPA: 3.6 unweighted
ACT: 33 (Will retake if needed)
SAT: 2090
SATII: Chinese 800, US History 720 (I may take chemistry and math II in the fall)
AP I have taken: US History, European History, Chemistry, English Lang and Composition.
APs I will take: Physics C, Calculus BC, Econ AP (macro and micro), English Literature and Composition
Extracurriculars: Marching Band (Section leader, I lead about 24 people), DSO youth orchestra (I'm in the highest level), Outdoors Track, Water Polo (Varsity in track).
Some Awards: 2010 Maestro Award (National), National Spanish Award (School)

UofM is basically my dream school, but I do like some others such as Northwestern (Huge reach). Should I ED Umich or EA? Thanks for chancing me!

Uh, you should definitely not ED to UMichigan. With those stats, you can get into much better schools. Good luck.

how so? My GPA isn’t that great, and my school has a weird weighing system, so my weighted gpa isn’t much higher, like around 3.7~ish.
But if you think so, what kind of school is within my range?

bump. please chance me!

i second what davidoga said. i applied to mich this year and i did early response so its not binding. you should do that too, but i suggest applying to a higher caliber schools like northwestern (as you mentioned), emory, rice, NYU, etc.

sorry for asking so many questions, but are you sure I can get in very easily? I’m very un-confident in my GPA.

You should be fine, just apply this September and you’ll find out before Christmas AND it’s not binding so apply to a few reaches. Michigan is a great school so if it’s your dream school have at it! I’ll be applying to, hopefully all goes well for both of us

thanks! I’m still looking for a percentage/probability, if possible.

What’s your rank? For a much better school you will need to be minimum top 10%. Realize many answering are high school kids, so no, they’re far from sure for you or themselves.

^ yea we’re all pretty much guessing, you might as well just ask your magic 8 ball.

Except for what I said about Rolling Admission, that should be true.

my school does not rank, but If I had to estimate, I should be at least 15% and up, and if you don’t count those kids that only take gym and the easy classes, then I am definitely 10%.

Look at your school profile and seee where you are re rank. If you are top 10% than a school or 2 more competitive may be worth a shot. If not, maybe not. UM is a good value in state, so also look at the financial picture.

Well, however I apply, would you say Umich is a match for me? Or reach?
