Would like to get some opinions on these schools for a serious pre-med student. They were not my son's first few choices (wait listed at Wash U and Northwestern). Did receive some merit aid from Rochester and Pitt. His preference was for a smaller school but really not sure if he should pick Rochester over the others.

If he wants a smaller school, then the University of Rochester, Rice University & Emory University are among the best options for a pre-med student.

U of Mich Honors is the most prestigious and it sounds like you're in state so I'm guessing it's also the cheapest. Being in an honors program will make his experience seem smaller, too. I'd choose Michigan.

For "serious pre-med student" I'd have to go with Michigan.

I would have to agree since U Roch students sometimes find it challenging to get high enough GPA for med school, however UMich students have at least a couple of instate medical schools (Mich state as well as Umich) and one's greatest chance of acceptance even to a private medical school are instate.
