UofR v Boston College

Hi, I have no idea where i really wanna go but i guess ive narrowed it down to these two(boston U is a possibility). Well, i guess i just wanna welcome your thoughts on this. I know rochestre is great in sciences and i want to be a neurosci major but Boston also seems to be good in the sciences and i guess some other pros.

I wouldn’t mind hearing what people thought about this thread. These are two of my top schools as well, but for political science/history/economics.

Does the fact that Boston College is a religious university affect your decision at all? I definitely considered that when applying places, i didnt want any religious affiliation whatsoever.

^ Actually, I considered that. I like that Rochester is completely secular, but if you are religious it’s accepted. The “interfaith” chapel, which is technically not on campus (but right across the street) is a place where anyone of any religion can worship, which I thought was cool, even though I’m not actively religious.

Also, BC and UR offered me the most money out of the 8 schools I applied to, but I’m choosing Rochester. Admittedly, I haven’t visited BC, but UR is a really welcoming place, and because it’s small, you feel like you’re getting a lot of personal attention. The campus is pretty, the dorm rooms are large, I LOVE the library, and apparently it’s very easy to get involved with research or to study abroad. Also, you only have to study what you really want to (open curriculum). BC seemed more impersonal to me. But like I said, I haven’t visited both schools.

If you like big time college sports, particularly football, BC is the better bet. Sports are important at Rochester, but not nearly the draw they are at BC.

The fact that BC is religious did bother me but its less of an issue now because I realized it wouldn’t come into play much.
