I haven’t heard of any in-state students receiving notifications, have you?
Someone posted on here approximately Sunday/Monday last week I believe that they saw a post on another board that an in-state person receive TS acceptance.
Yes us too! I am wondering if anymore merit will be given?
I was just on a virtual event and the admissions counselor said that all top scholars and honors notifications will go out by the end of the month and they will release when all notifications have gone out!
If anyone receives Top Scholars emails this week, please let us know!
Not sure if anyone else attended the parent roundtable yesterday, but the current timeline is: second round of honors early next week. Drop dead date for an invite to Top Scholars is mid next week. You will also find out if you were NOT invited to Honors early next week, but Capstone invites won’t happen until mid-March when merit awards come out.
I’m inferring from this (for top scholars) that they sent out second round invites the 9th or 10th and are giving those kids until Monday the 15th to respond. If anyone from the second round turns them down, they’ll quickly send out another invite on the 16th or 17th…but that’s it.
At this point, I don’t think my daughter will get invited to TS.
Good luck to your kid and everyone who’s still waiting for it.
To clarify if you receive notification that you didn’t make honors you still may get Capstone. want to make sure I’m reading that right.
Exactly - I just wanted to make sure people knew they won’t come at the same time.
So the email on Monday (or Tuesday) won’t say - we can’t offer you a place in Honors, but we’d like to invite you to Capstone.
You will just get the no for Honors next week and then Capstone invites (for everyone invited - even if you didn’t apply to Honors) go out in mid-March.
Does that make sense?
Yes okay that is how I read your first comment. Thank you! Mid March seems like a lifetime away for the kids, mine just wants to make a decision and move on. Our school has been virtual and will start in person this month. It’s been a hellish year and she needs some good news sooner than later!
In the same boat here… my daughter is still really hoping for it though! I hope she’s not too heartbroken if she doesn’t get it.
Agreed!
Extra challenge is mine has known about merit money + accepted to honors at UTK and ASU since mid-December. ASU is at ‘time to apply for housing has started’ on their timeline. Meanwhile, UofSC and Clemson still waiting…
Is SC on its own time ?
HA! Every school is on their own time. Heck, Ivy Day isn’t until early April. It’s in our hands to plan out our own risks and rewards of accepting early, waiting, and such.
Out of thousands applicants, only 95 (50in-state, 45OOS) are chosen, so we know that the odd is not in our favor. In addition, I’m sure they look for “fit” beside stats and perhaps, my daughter is not what they are looking for in TS.
I’m sure your kid and mine will get scholarships in addition to the instate offering, and if attend UofSC, they will thrive and continue to become successful there.
My congrats to those who got invited to TS and good luck to those who are still waiting for Honors, Scholars or admission.
These competitive scholarships are always so hard to predict. Top Scholars was 1 of only 2 colleges out of 16 that didn’t invite my D to interview for their top scholarship and it was one of the lowest ranked of her options. I’m sure your D will have other great options. Good luck!
Thank you and I’m sure your D will be chosen for the winner of Top Prizes.
Just heard from admissions that all Top Scholars applicants have been notified and that an email would be sent in the soon to those that applied but were not chosen.
Does anyone know when the Honors decision will be coming out for those accepted via EA?
They already did… or are there supposed to be more acceptances coming? My twins were accepted EA and were notified of getting into Honors back in December.
There is another round coming out… Just know it’s in February but not sure exactly when
