UofT or UBC?

Hi!

I’m a grade 12 student going into university next year, and I can’t decide between UofT or UBC. As of right now, I’m planning to do physics with chem added somewhere in there. The most important thing for me is GPA, and I would preferably go somewhere where it is easier to get a high GPA because I’m planning to go to grad school for something physics-related. I heard that UofT is really hard and deflates marks like crazy, which is holding me back from applying there. It also doesn’t offer co-op programs like UBC, which is something I was looking at doing. The GPA is the thing that I cared about the most, though.

So where do you think I should go? Where would I be able to get a higher GPA? And is UofT really as hard as people make it to be, or is it comparable to UBC?

Thank you!

U of T and UBC have similar grade distributions in their courses. The students are roughly of the same calibre. Neither will be easier to get a high GPA. Your GPA will depend more on you than the university that you go to. Go where you will be happy and you will be able to do well.

U of T offers PEY which is a one year co-op experience.
