UofT or Waterloo

hey guys im from the states and i recently got admitted into the university of toronto for life sciences - environment and energy. toronto is a great city and i love it. also i know uoft is top 30 in the world. i have heard that the student to prof relationship in uoft isnt the best, but that doesnt bother me as much. i did hear the workload is killer but i know itll be worth it to graduate from a big name college.

i also got into waterloo's environment and business program. uw isnt ranked as high as uoft but i love the co-op program and being that it has a whole faculty dedicated to environment, that must mean theyre good right? yet ive heard life at waterloo is extremly boring and i have seen the town and i know there is practically nothing to do there.

my i am a little concerned about having a life in campus and having things to do aside from school work, but i feel that going to a good program is more important to me than being entertained all the time. basically im asking which is better; uoft's life science - environment and energy, or uw's environment and business program.

please give me help choosing my college! also personal opinions and maybe even hearing experiences from friends will help also! thank you so much

The student to professor relationship is a important thing. Even though you’ll have a syllabus, you’ll still need to have a good relationship with the teacher.

It’s not worth it to graduate from a big-named college-it’s worth it because you graduated from college A and got a great job afterwards.

The environment is important also. If Waterloo’s area suck, that should concern you, since you MAY move there after you finish college.

Ultimately, we can’t make the decision for you. Your the one going to college, and your going to have to be the one who chooses the college. I hope the pointers I gave you helped a bit.

mynameisalex, do me a favour go to UofT, ITS THE BEST.

But my opinion is that you should choose the school that best fits you and your program, not the one with the biggest name. My son turned down a couple excellent schools with excellent names for an equally excellent school that most people have never heard of. The one he chose was a better fit for him, and, I believe, a better fit for his career plans. I think he made the right choice.

Rankings only show how well the school fits into the spreadsheet formulas, not how well it meets your needs.
