I'm having a hard time deciding between University of the Pacific and University of Redlands! I've been accepted into them both, and with scholarships they aren't much different in price. I have visited both, talked to students from both, read reviews from several places, looked at stats for both, and I still feel stuck.

I think I am leaning a bit more towards UOP, but the problem is (as silly as it seems) that my ex-boyfriend goes there, and I'm not sure if that would be weird.... It's a pretty small school, after all, and we would both still be in band and see each other often. And more than that is the fact that a lot of people would question my motives for going there, and I don't think I would get a lot of respect for my decision. I am trying to ignore the pressures from other people, but it's hard to tell whether or not you are still being influenced by it.

If anybody could give me advice about either, or about my situation, then I would really appreciate it! More than anything I want to hear interesting things about the schools. Any little bit of info would be helpful =) Thanks!

Some of my friends in highschool went to UOP over great schools like UCSD, UCI and UCD because of their pharmacy program and good scholarships. I hear its pretty boring up there, the city is bad (bad crime rate) but all in all it seems like an alright school. I don't know anything about the University of Redlands other then its in the Inland Empier which is a negative for me.

Like UoP, Redlands the town can definetly be boring (except for market night), but Redlands the university is anything but boring. There isn't really a whole lot of crime. Like UoP, Redlands is known for giving generous scholarships. Our strongest programs are probably business, creative writing (we are one of only a handful of schools in the nation to offer an undergraduate degree in creative writing), and music (mostly classical styles, although I play jazz quite a bit and am able to get a decent education in it here). If you are into opera, our vocal performance major focuses alot on opera, there is an excellent opera workshop group, and sight-singing classes often participate in the choirs of opera productions. If fact, we have been generating alot of buzz as of late because we are doing the Italian opera, 'Norma'. If you don't know anything about opera, just know that it's not too often that a production of Norma comes along, and it's a pretty big deal in the opera world.

I don't know why the Inland Empire as a whole would be a negative. There are alot of myths about the Inland Empire, and while some of them are certainly true, most of them that I have come across are either outright false or only apply to a particular town or city in the Inland Empire.

Thank you both! Yeah I've heard about as much about both of the towns =P But what is that is this whole Inland Empire thing?
