UOregon vs. SDSU

Which school is better for business?

Also which school has the best sports business program?

better overall would have to be sdsu, sports program goes to oregon due to the large presence of nike and espn on their campus along with hundreds of alum that are working across the country for sports teams, papers and sports media reporting agencies. Go to oregon's site and it will give you a lot more info especially since that is their claim to fame. Otherwise, i would never go their since in my opinion the rest of their program is under recruited, their average salaries are low and the companies that are present include a very small portion of what i would consider ideal...nike and intel being at the top. But then remember nike is there mainly to pick of marketing majors, their salaries are low, but they supposedly have a fun office environment and low stress levels for employees..but starting salaries i think were 36-39k

How many big cos really go to SDSU either? Salaries are lower in the northwest but so is the cost of living. UO offers a more complete residential college experience. SDSU is mostly commuters and I bet the place is a ghost town on weekends.

You bet SDSU is a ghost town on the weekends?....hahahahaha. Qualcomm, Merrill Lynch and AG Edwards recruit from our campus...on the weekdays before the campus of 35,000 students departs and there is nothing to do and no one around on the weekends...

ML and AG edwards are just recruiting fin advisors though, something you would have no problem finding at oregon or from any college

financial advisory jobs = smile and dial

Actually two different reps for ML it was MLIM, Merrill Lynch Invesment Managers and The Global Private Client Group both on campus recruiting for internships...

I'm pretty certain they don't recruit at any college...but then again you think any college is ranked 1 from 100 in business...and forget that there are hundreds upon hundreds of business schools.

some company looking for fin advising or wealth management will recruit at nearly every college, not to mention the abundance of listings scattered on monster.com looking for anyone with a bachelors degree. It is a low risk hire since most of the pay will be commision, especially after the pay supplemented training period

not saying it is a bad job, just low risk for the company, so they can hire a broader range of candidates.

its a pure sales job.

you can make a lot of money if your good at it or you can make nothing.

Merrill Lynch doesn't hire anyone for MLIM, it requires a great deal of TA and portfolio management skills. Also the same goes for Global Private Client Group (knowledge of marketable securities, commercial paper, notes, bonds you name it). Actually Merrill Lynch in San Diego is offering zero jobs via monster....Brokers are a much different beast..smile and dial.

saved, this is your second year at sdsu right? If so, i was planning to go down there to talk to career services and possibly the dean of accounting if possible so i can decide between sdsu, fullerton, long beach since they are all in a dead heat right now and i will be able to get into all 3 as my primary/safety schools behind usc and slo which i highly doubt i have any chances at. Ok back to question, where is career services, and where is the business complex. I have been down to the campus once during summer and had no clue where i was going.

SDSU seems like the better choice to me, simply becauset hey are in San Diego and have a solid business program.

they all have extremely solid business programs

Also how does Washington State's business program compare to SDSU and UOregon?

WSU has a sports management major and I heard it was pretty good....how does it compare to Oregons?

oregon's is nationally recognized for its sports program, sdsu would still have the best overall business school, mainly becuase of its location

SDSU has home court advantage. They are in a major city.

Oregon ranks ahead of SDSU as an overall school, and for their business program. However, you get in-state tuition at SDSU, it's not a big difference in terms of quality, and SDSU has good connections with the San Diego market.
